Almatar Bahrain: delivery, returns and customer service

Reviewed by Omar KhatibUpdated

In short

Anyone living in Bahrain can use Almatar after setting the site region to Bahrain. This page covers getting help, changing or upgrading a booking, cancelling, refunds and payment. Two rules matter most: changes and class upgrades carry service fees, and a cancellation does not count until you and the agent on WhatsApp have each confirmed it in writing.

Getting help

The Bahrain facts we hold point to WhatsApp, where an agent handles cancellations. A Bahraini phone number, email address or support hours are not listed for Bahrain in that material. Use the WhatsApp chat linked from the Almatar site, and keep your booking reference ready.

Changes and class upgrades

Almatar charges service fees for changes and for upgrading your class of travel, and lists them in its help centre. These come on top of the airline's own fare difference. So an upgrade from economy to business on a Manama flight involves two costs: what the airline charges for the higher fare and Almatar's service fee. Ask for both in writing before agreeing, and decide between a flexible and a fixed ticket at booking time with those fees in mind.

How cancellation works

Pressing cancel does not end the booking on its own. The request is handed to an agent on WhatsApp, and nothing is settled until each side has written its confirmation in that chat.

  1. Open the booking online or in the app and choose cancel.
  2. Reply in the WhatsApp chat when the agent contacts you.
  3. Make sure both sides have written a clear confirmation; until then the booking stands.
  4. Screenshot the confirmed chat for your records.

Refunds

Refund timings for Bahrain bookings are not published. Since the original payment was taken in SAR, your bank turns any refund back into dinars, and service fees for cancellation reduce what comes back.

Payment and currency

Bahrain bookings can be paid with Visa, Mastercard or Apple Pay, or split with Tabby or Tamara. Payment is taken in SAR after conversion, so a Bahraini card may attract a foreign-exchange fee. No Bahrain-specific codes are published; see our Almatar coupon page for current offers.

Frequently asked questions

My booking still shows as active after I pressed cancel. Why?

Because pressing cancel just opens the request. An agent then takes it up on WhatsApp, and the booking is only cancelled once you and the agent have each confirmed in that chat. Check the chat, reply if the agent is waiting for you, and keep the confirmation once it is done.

How much does a class upgrade cost on Almatar?

Almatar does not publish a single figure. An upgrade combines the airline's fare difference with Almatar's own service fee for changes and upgrades, which is listed in the help centre. Ask the agent for both amounts in riyals before you accept, as the total can be significant.

Should I choose a flexible or a fixed ticket?

It depends on how settled your plans are. Almatar charges service fees on changes, on top of airline charges, so a fixed ticket that later needs changing can end up costing more than a flexible one. If the dates are certain, the fixed fare is usually the cheaper choice.

Can I select Bahrain as my region on Almatar?

Yes, Bahrain appears in the list of regions in the site settings. Choosing it does not change the charging currency, though: payments are still converted to Saudi riyals, so check the riyal total and ask your bank about foreign-exchange fees.

Can I spread the cost of a trip booked from Bahrain?

You can, through Tabby or Tamara, both offered at checkout for Bahrain bookings. Each plan is built on the total in SAR, and the booking's own cancellation and change rules still apply, so check those before choosing a payment plan.

Where are Almatar's service fees listed?

In the help centre, in a section on service fees covering cancellations, changes, rebooking and class upgrades. The amounts were not included in the material we read for Bahrain, so open that section before booking a trip whose details might change.
