How to use a Careem code
- Open the Careem app and go to Food; the codes we track are listed for the app rather than a website.
- Choose a restaurant and add your dishes to the basket.
- At checkout, open the promo code option and enter the code, making sure it is a food code rather than one for another Careem service.
- Check the basket total: the discount should show before you pay, and if you have Careem Plus, delivery should show as free as well.
- Pay with a saved card or your Careem Pay balance and place the order; the discount is instant, not cashback.
Delivery and fees in the UAE
In Dubai, Careem Food lists more than 9,000 restaurants and delivers around the clock. It now reaches Abu Dhabi and Al Ain too, though our facts do not say whether the restaurant range or 24-hour delivery is the same outside Dubai.
Careem does not publish its standard delivery fee or a minimum basket for free delivery. The fee you pay appears in the basket for each order. The route to free delivery that Careem does publish is Careem Plus: for AED 19 a month you get unlimited free food delivery, and the same subscription also covers delivery perks on Quik. If you live in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain and order late at night, check the restaurants open near you before subscribing, since the 24/7 claim in our facts refers to Dubai.
Missing orders and refunds in the UAE
Cooked food cannot be returned like a parcel, so there is no return window for Careem Food. What matters is what happens when an order goes wrong, and Careem's UAE food page sets out a specific path for that.
If items are missing or the order never arrives, open the app and go to Activities, then Food, then select the order and tap Help. From there you can call the help centre. Use this route rather than contacting the restaurant directly, so the problem is logged against the order you paid for. How Careem resolves such cases, whether by refund to your card, credit to Careem Pay or a replacement order, is not published in our facts. Take a photo of what arrived if something is missing, and raise it promptly while the order is still at the top of your activity list.
Paying in the UAE
Careem Food orders in the UAE are paid with a card saved to your Careem account or with your Careem Pay wallet balance. Those are the two methods on the food page we read.
Cash on delivery, Tabby, Tamara and Apple Pay are not mentioned, so do not plan on them. Paying from the Careem Pay wallet keeps food spending in one place if you also use Careem for rides, and the Careem Plus subscription itself brings perks on rides, Quik and DineOut, so a single account covers several services. Since the reported codes are instant, the charge to your card or wallet already reflects the discount. If you use a code and Plus together, look for two separate lines in the basket, one for the food discount and one showing delivery as free, before you confirm payment.

Before you pay at Careem in the UAE
- Check that the site shows AED prices. A code made for another Gulf country is rejected here, even at the same store.
- At least one offer works only in the Careem app. Install it and sign in before you build the basket.
- Prices are shown including 5% VAT. When a code is applied, VAT is charged on the discounted amount, so check the final total on the payment page.
Tips for saving at Careem in the UAE
- If you order food more than a few times a month, compare your usual delivery fees with the AED 19 Plus fee; Careem does not publish its standard charge.
- Use a food code on top of Plus rather than instead of it, since Careem allows the two together.
- On a big order, check the discount line; the 50% food code may be capped at an amount the listing does not state.
- Report a missing item through Activities, then Food, then Help, so it is linked to the order you paid for.
