Ramadan 2027 shopping in the Gulf: dates, sales and Eid cut-offs

Reviewed by Fadi NasserUpdated

Short answer

As of October 2026, Ramadan 1448 is expected to begin on Monday 8 February 2027, with Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027. These are astronomical forecasts: each Gulf country confirms the dates only after the crescent moon is sighted. Last year, Amazon ran its Ramadan Sale before the month began, and Saudi Arabia's Ramadan sale season ran from 1 February to 26 March 2026, past Eid.

Expected dates, and why they can still move

Ramadan begins with the sighting of the new crescent moon, so no Gulf country fixes the date in advance. In the UAE, the start follows an official announcement from the moon-sighting committee under the UAE Council for Fatwa, according to the UAE government portal. Each other Gulf state makes its own announcement.

What exists now are forecasts. The UAE's Astronomy Centre, as reported by The National in September 2026, expects Ramadan to begin on Monday 8 February 2027 and to last 29 or 30 days. That puts Eid al-Fitr on Tuesday 9 March if the month has 29 days, or Wednesday 10 March if it has 30.

MilestoneExpected dateStatus
1 Ramadan 1448Monday 8 February 2027Forecast; confirmed by sighting
Saudi Founding DayMonday 22 February 2027, about day 15Fixed date; official holiday
Eid al-Fitr, 1 ShawwalTuesday 9 or Wednesday 10 March 2027Forecast; confirmed by sighting

Build every deadline in this guide on the earlier Eid date, 9 March. If Eid falls on 10 March you gain a day; if you plan for 10 March and Eid comes on the 9th, you lose one.

What changes in each country during Ramadan

Shorter working days slow down customer service, warehouses and some couriers. This is what we could confirm on official pages as of 26 October 2026:

CountryRamadan working hoursHolidays in or near Ramadan 2027
UAEReduced by two hours a day for Muslim and non-Muslim employees, per the government portalEid al-Fitr holiday from 1 to 3 Shawwal; if Ramadan lasts 30 days, day 30 is also a holiday
Saudi ArabiaNo more than 6 hours a day or 36 a week for Muslim workers, under Article 98 of the Labour Law (HRSD)Founding Day, 22 February, an official holiday by royal order
KuwaitNot confirmedWe could not confirm the 2027 national holiday dates on an official page
QatarNot confirmedNot confirmed
BahrainNot confirmedNot confirmed
OmanNot confirmedNot confirmed

The UAE rule on day 30 matters for deliveries. If the month runs its full 30 days, the Eid break starts a day earlier than the Eid date itself, per the public holidays page. Plan for couriers and offices to slow down from that day.

How last year's Ramadan sales ran

The clearest lesson from 2026 is that the sales start before the month does.

  • Amazon. Amazon.ae describes its Ramadan Sale as held before the holy month, with discounts of up to 50% and early access to all deals for Prime members. Its separate Eid Sale also starts before Eid, again with early access for Prime members. Neither page lists past dates.
  • Saudi Arabia's licensed season. The Ministry of Commerce opened its 2026 Ramadan sale season on 13 Sha'ban 1447, which was 1 February 2026, and ran it to 7 Shawwal 1447, 26 March 2026: 54 days, ending after Eid. This comes from the ministry's announcement as reported by Okaz on 28 January 2026; the ministry's own site would not load for us. Shoppers can check that a discount is licensed by scanning the barcode on the licence with a phone camera.
  • Bank offers. A typical 2026 example: Namshi with Alinma Bank Visa cards, valid 10 to 28 February 2026, gave 25% off up to SAR 150 on a minimum spend of SAR 200, for one order per card.
  • noon. We could not confirm official dates for noon's 2026 Ramadan sale.

If the Saudi season again opens in mid-Sha'ban, it would start in the second half of January 2027. That is our estimate; the 1448 season had not been announced as of 26 October 2026.

Food and grocery: stock up before the first fast

Pantry buying peaks in the days before Ramadan, which is also when Amazon has run its Ramadan Sale. Three habits help:

  • Buy dry goods in the pre-Ramadan sale. Rice, flour, dates, oil and drinks keep for weeks. Buying them in late January or the first days of February 2027 leaves daily orders for fresh food only.
  • Know your free-delivery minimums. On noon One, quick-grocery orders ride free above AED 25 or SAR 30 on noon Minutes, and above AED 50 or SAR 150 on Nownow. talabat pro waives the fee on eligible talabat mart orders. If you order fresh food daily, a membership may pay off during this month even if it does not the rest of the year. Our free-delivery table lists thresholds without a membership.
  • Order iftar needs early in the day. We found no official page from noon, talabat or Amazon setting special iftar delivery windows. noon's delivery fees page says fees and options depend on your city and order time, and same-day or next-day delivery may not be available everywhere. Do not count on a fast order in the last hour before sunset.

Delivery cut-offs for Eid orders

No major store had published Eid al-Fitr 2027 order cut-offs as of 26 October 2026, and we found no official cut-off pages for past years. These working rules come from the facts above, with 9 March 2027 as the earliest likely Eid:

  • International orders: by about 22 February. Global-store items travel further and pass customs. Aim to order them in the first half of Ramadan.
  • Clothes and gifts from local stores: by about 1 March. That leaves a week for size swaps or a late courier. In the UAE, remember that day 30 of Ramadan may already be a holiday.
  • Last-minute local orders: only with a visible delivery date. Check the estimated delivery at checkout before paying, and choose items marked for fast delivery.
  • Keep the delivery speed the same. Amazon's qualified promotions terms require the same delivery speed for every item in an offer. Upgrading one item to faster delivery can remove the discount.
  • Cashback is not Eid money. noon's coupon cashback lands within a few days of delivery, so credit from a late-Ramadan order may only arrive after Eid.

Paying with codes and bank offers in Ramadan

Ramadan bank offers tend to share the same limits, so plan which basket gets which discount:

  • One order per card. The 2026 Namshi and Alinma offer allowed one order per card. Put your biggest Eid basket on the bank offer, and use store codes on the smaller orders.
  • No stacking. The Namshi offer could not be combined with other vouchers or coupon codes, and noon's bank partnerships page allows only one discount per order.
  • Payment method matters. The Namshi offer excluded Apple Pay, the Namshi wallet, gift cards and buy now, pay later. noon's bank discounts also exclude digital wallets such as Apple Pay. If you prefer to split a payment, check our pay-later table and compare the saving you give up.
  • Sale licences in Saudi Arabia. Before trusting a big Ramadan discount from a Saudi shop, scan the barcode on its sale licence.

See the noon, Amazon and Namshi store pages for codes as they are released.

Frequently asked questions

When does Ramadan 2027 start?

Ramadan 1448 is expected to start on Monday 8 February 2027, according to astronomical forecasts including the UAE's Astronomy Centre. The date is not official yet. Each Gulf country confirms the start only after its moon-sighting announcement on the eve of the month, so the start could still shift by a day.

When is Eid al-Fitr 2027?

Eid al-Fitr is expected on Tuesday 9 March 2027 if Ramadan lasts 29 days, or Wednesday 10 March if it lasts 30. The final date depends on the sighting of the Shawwal moon in each country. In the UAE the Eid holiday runs from 1 to 3 Shawwal, and if Ramadan lasts 30 days, day 30 is also a holiday.

When do Ramadan sales usually start?

Before the month itself. Amazon.ae says its Ramadan Sale is held before the holy month, with early access for Prime members. In Saudi Arabia, the 2026 licensed Ramadan sale season opened on 1 February 2026, about two and a half weeks before Ramadan, and ran to 26 March 2026. The 2027 dates had not been announced as of 26 October 2026.

What is the last day to order for Eid delivery?

No store had published Eid 2027 cut-offs as of 26 October 2026. Planning on the earlier possible Eid, 9 March, a safe approach is to place international orders by about 22 February and local clothes and gift orders by about 1 March. For anything later, check the estimated delivery date at checkout before you pay, and avoid relying on the last two days.

Does Saudi Founding Day fall during Ramadan 2027?

Yes, if Ramadan starts on 8 February 2027 as forecast. Founding Day is 22 February every year and is an official holiday under a royal order. In 2027 it falls on a Monday, around the fifteenth day of Ramadan. Expect stores to run Founding Day offers alongside Ramadan offers, and allow for slower deliveries in Saudi Arabia on the holiday.

Can I combine a bank offer with a promo code in Ramadan?

Usually not. The 2026 Namshi and Alinma Ramadan offer could not be combined with other vouchers or coupon codes, and noon allows only one discount per order. Bank offers also tend to exclude Apple Pay and buy now, pay later, and may be limited to one order per card. Compare the bank discount with the best store code and use whichever saves more.
